WHY JOURNALISM MATTERS

Although journalism success is decreasing and the majority of the public find their news through false media, the importance still stands. Delivering informative stories for the extended society to live their lives. The purpose of journalism is the function news plays in people’s lives. Journalism is world communication conveys events and issues. The modern world as we have evolved have created modern ways broadcasting journalism of television news programs, public figure interviews, social media platforms and websites.

The journalism industry has become less respected as writers have been producing false news and misleading stories. Newspapers are dying as online platforms are the preferred option with the evolving technologies. Professional journalists have their opinions and views on the misleading websites as they believe they don't hold the right/enough information.

To put this into perspective and an example, if media and journalism was not existing during Coronavirus times finding informative details on area outbreaks, hotel quarantine transmissions, closed borders, case numbers, lockdown, curfew and 5km radius. Journalism through coronavirus was and still is very important to broadcast and present valid information for society to continue living in health. COVID was a time of continuing events and relevant stories over many months, so journalists of general news would have needed to alert the public for information to protect our families and loved ones.

Evidently Coronavirus without journalism, we would have struggled as a community to be aware of case numbers and general ongoing happenings, so if journalism didn't exist in no circumstances, societies would fight for peace, opinions and knowledge.
